CHALLENGE

Wyocarb Tool & Equipment Rentals (Wyocarb) is a small business in Sheridan Wyoming. Their project was unique in that, the company had been in place for some time and neither the old or new owners knew anything about updating it. The new owners contacted Big Shifter asking for some help in updating the website and understanding its current state. They desired to update some old information, create a new look and feel, and remove old data that was no longer applicable to their business.

APPROACH

Big Shifter sat down with Katie and Mark from Wyocarb to talk about the ‘pain points’ they were having with the site. They did not know where to start transitioning site ownership from the previous owner. The existing website was created many years ago and was severely outdated. Although there was no budget for a full-blown CMS (Content Management System) implementation, there was an understanding that something had to be done quickly.

SOLUTION

Big Shifter implemented a website that was custom coded to replace the old one. The new design had updated information throughout and was modernized to modern design standards. Big Shifter took care of mobile users by providing a ‘mobile first’ approach design ensuring that mobile users had a first-class experience while browsing the website.

Website Before Partnering with Big Shifter

CHALLENGE

CCYC, a childcare nonprofit out of Goshen Indiana approached Big Shifter with a need to refresh their aging website. They needed a fresh approach to their website and a CMS that would allow them to create and maintain a new website that was based on current design standards.

APPROACH

We met with the CCYC team during our Discovery meeting and documented everything that they wanted with their new site. We spoke about logos, colors, branding, and website functionality. Once the estimated work was agreed upon, we kicked the meeting off with a meeting between Big Shifter and CCYC. We confirmed the scope of work, asked additional questions, and let them know about the next step in the process.

SOLUTION

We implemented Big Shifter’s Standard Website Package for CCYC which included a content authoring, branding, integrating a third party donation platform and content management training. The site is hosted with Squarespace.com and the third party donation solution is Givelively.com.

The CCYC team was updated using periodic status reports, E-mail and phone conversations. Using a collaborative approach, the site was completed on time and within budget.

Listen Ministries

CHALLENGE

Listen Ministries, a newly formed nonprofit, needed a website to get the word out about their mission: to provide Christian counseling services to pastors, missionaries and ministry leaders. They didn’t have a digital marketing presence and approached Big Shifter for help.

As with any fledgling organization, they need to start from scratch and it was tough for them to know how to get started without someone coming alongside them.

I entered the project knowing nothing; Erik educated me on everything he did. He always answered my questions promptly and changes I suggested were never a burden. His creativity was marvelous and his editing superb.

I worked with Ken in the early stages of the project using my proven methodology of a Project Discovery meeting. We spoke in length about Listen Ministries’ mission and goals. We determined that they not only needed a website but also logo design, copywriting and branding.

Transition Habitat Conservancy Website Reboot

THC Website after Big Shifter Partnership

The Transition Habitat Conservancy (THC) is a nonprofit organization in California that works to preserve and care for fragile and pristine desert areas. Their website was not working optimally for them to get the word out to their constituents and partners.

CHALLENGE

THC had a website in place for several years but they needed something more. Their site had an older design that was an inefficient representation of the organization’s desire to engage their site visitors. Their site was also not designed to support mobile devices and they saw their mobile users increasing year over year.

APPROACH

Our team guided THC through our website project process starting with gathering Business Requirements. Once we collected input from the THC staff, Big Shifter kicked off the project and immediately started work.

A unique consideration for the THC project was that they had already created a Squarespace site and seeded it with content. But they were stuck. We, at Big Shifter, normally like to start with a clean slate to ensure that working outside of our optimized processes do not incur additional fees for the client. In this case, THC had not ventured too much into the wild and we were able to re-use and optimize their content. Throughout the project, we periodically met with THC staff to gather more content and strategize how content would be arranged.

Big Shifter also conducted staff training to do a knowledge transfer so they knew how to do content management basics and understand how the site was put together.

Build My Church Launches New Website to Help Churches in Need

Build My Church was a newly formed nonprofit organization that just incorporated as a 501c(3) and was now ready to create an online presence. They had a clear vision who they serve but needed help in establishing their website, branding and online donations efforts.

CHALLENGE

Build My Church knows a lot about helping churches rebuild and repair their structures, but not so much about how to build their own website. How does a new organization venture into the crazy world of website design and marketing? Well in this case, by developing a relationship with a trusted partner, Big Shifter, to see their vision come alive.

APPROACH

After having a project kickoff meeting with Build My Church to collect and affirm their requirements, Big Shifter set off to design their website choosing a base Squarespace template. We also recommended one of our partners to help with the logo branding which resulted in a logo that the Build My Church team was happy with.

SOLUTION

Big Shifter’s base web package was used to design and configure their website. We carefully integrated their business requirements by selecting a template that communicated strength and safety to any potential churches that may be in the throws of rebuilding their structures. We also integrated a donations platform, Givebox, which provides a feature-rich donations platform with minimal transaction fees. With the help of the Build My Church team, the Build My Church website launched without any issues and at the end of the project, the site was smoothly handed over to their staff.
